Georgia Spring Bucket List

Get outside and experience spring in Georgia with our Spring Bucket List. How many of these activities will you enjoy this year?

  1. Drive-in Theater - Relive the good ole days at the Drive-In Theater! Throw some pillows, blankets, and snacks in the car, and take in a movie with your family. Georgia has at least 5 drive-in theaters for you to enjoy, all within a few hours of the Athens area. https://www.exploregeorgia.org/things-to-do/list/5-georgia-drive-in-theaters-you-cant-miss

  2. Daytrip to Elijay for a winery tour - Elijay is just a 2-hour drive from Athens, and home to six local wineries. Take a day trip, take in the countryside, and sample some of Georgia’s best wines! https://downtownellijay.com/north-georgia-wineries-vineyards/ https://365atlantatraveler.com/ellijay-winery/ (some of the links in this article are broken)

  3. Plant a container garden - This is the perfect backyard project that only takes a few hours and you’ll enjoy it from spring to early fall. Container gardens are great for decks, patios, and more, and you can enjoy beautiful flowers or harvesting your own tomatoes, peppers, herbs, and more for months to come! https://www.gardendesign.com/containers/

  4. Visit Gibbs Gardens - Did you know that one of the “Best American Botanical Gardens” is about an hour and 45 minutes from Athens? Gibbs Gardens knows how to put on a jaw-dropping display too with over 20 million daffodil blooms in 2021. Spend an afternoon strolling the grounds this spring, or make it there in time to buy lunch at the Arbor Cafe and dine al fresco in the Arbor Grove. Learn more at www.gibbsgardens.com
